On April 1st Blogger is gonna force us all to accept the new format. We may not be posting for a few days while we get the hang of the new format.
My thoughts and opinions on the 54mm/60mm Plastic Toy Soldier collecting hobby. Yes I seemingly rant at times and we explained in one of the first posts that we would be. So if you do not like that sort of stuff we suggest you leave NOW. Also look for some thoughts on history, informational posts and a bit of fun stuff from time to time.

Cavalry
Spent the afternoon pouring over the new Paragon Wild West Cavalry. Very nice indeed. I imagine a few will take issue with the Head/Hat thing. One thing I noted quite by accident is that they fit very well IMHO on IMEX horses. The poses are good with no one firing a carbine one handed. The Officer's sword has the sword knot flying in the wind and that position of his saber is right out of the US Cavalry manual. For you purists the Officer is not carrying a carbine. I do wish one or two were wearing a kepi simply because I like that head gear.
I had heard that these figures were intended for those (IMEX) horses but cannot confirm that. Likewise they seem to go well with the Imex ACW Cavalry. Paragon are of course more full bodied and all. I may just add a troop or two to my 5th Cav diorama that is sadly lacking decent Mtd troops since my Airfix troops look so under sized compared to the new Cavalry out there. Check them out ......

Yet more history
March 29, 1879 British troops of the 90th Light Infantry Regiment repulse a major attack by Zulu tribesmen in northwest Zululand.
AIP makes a great set of Zulus with indications more will follow

More Barzso
We "lifted" this shot from another web site. The figures will not come painted. These are the Colonials. I hear they were also displayed Al-natural.
Some one also mentioned that Barzso seemed to have moved away from his policy of keeping the subject of upcoming sets secret. I never saw any reason for this. Not even competition to me was a valid excuse. The in the know crowd no longer have bragging rights "I know what the next set is but I cant tell you". I really hated that crap. Rest assured they will find other things/secrets to brag about.
Today in History
March 28, 1885 The Salvation Army is officially organized in the United States. This one of my Fav Organizations... ah religions ? .......Anyway I will always remember those bell ringers and the bucket and tripod at Christmas time..

Barzso
The Indy Show was held recently and reading over some show reports we homed in on the news about the new Barzso figures. It was reported the set(s) included some very interesting poses and are of course PLASTIC!!!! One reporter mentioned this should end breakage. Breakage ? I thought this problem had been licked? In any case I hope to read somewhere how they stack up scale wise.
Another MARX Auction
Good Lord now EBAY has a Wagon Train set at $2,000.00! This one we are told is up for sale by a noted collector in New England.

History Today
March 24th 1765 Britain passes the Quartering Act, requiring the colonies to house 10,000 British troops in public and private buildings. This really pisses off the colonists!

News
Conte is posting he may offer single color metal if we plastic guys are interested. Think about that ....We are plastic guys why would he offer us metal painted to look like plastic...why would he think we would want it ? I guess some would. I myself buy Lemax to get a pose I 'need' that I cannot get in plastic. But then again I can get my hands on LEMAX. Conte however makes offers or states plans we will most likely NEVER see. (sigh) I really wonder why the lack of plastic on his part. CTS, TSSD, WTC, AIP, Paragon and others have continually churned out plastic despite the economy, China etc. So why no CONTE plastic? Many tell me they have as I lost interest in Conte plastic. I sincerely wish he would stop teasing us.

OMG!!!!
Hollywood need a flop picture ? Look at this !!! And they are calling it the Johnny Depp Lone Ranger Movie....
Ah...the good old days!!!
While we doubt a playset will be forthcoming and we shudder at the fact that Action figures may be produced ......

Mag News
Plastic Warrior Mag from the UK states UK Postal rates has forced them to think about a reduction in the number of issues (6 down to 4) per subscription. Such a move will allow them to hold current rates and increase the number of pages. They are inviting readers comments.

Conte Memory Intact!!
Conte states on his site that he hasn't forgot the Zulu collectors.....we assume he means the metal collectors. So still no word if and when he will return to plastic production.
Update
Haven't felt all that inspired this week. I have been taking a slew of photos so that I can add to the Campaign tab. Stay tuned.

Marx Madness
Currently on EBAY a sealed Marx playset Custer's Last Stand is at $3,500.00. The seller is the Marx Museum? . Or perhaps this is just the sellers name. I guess the museum is trying to raise funds ? A viewer tells me he will send me a post on this. IMHO this is crazy price to pay but that is just me.

Left, right....left or right
As we all know TSSD will have the OK Corral Cowboys soon And so will Conte. Both companies will be making a BILLY CLANTON figure. Both have shown prototypes of this man each with a different arm wounded. So which one is correct ? I don't know but I imagine the debate this has sparked will increase in volume and someone will tell us all. Can ya stand the suspense?

TSSD Earps
Got a chance to see and handle the TSSD Earp figures. Excellent detail etc BUT way to large in scale IMHO. I also think the price is a bit too high.
